About Marsha

My Commitment to You

Marsha SendarI am passionately dedicated to helping you achieve and maintain a state of vital health, based on the proven tenets of holistic health care. My intention is to support your healing and to empower you to make choices that will keep you healthy and vital throughout your life.

Education and Professional Training

My fascination and desire to understand the human body and its complexities began more than three decades ago. My formal education includes a Master of Science Degree in Health Science from California State University; a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from University of the Pacific; and Certification as a Nutrition Consultant from Hawthorn University.

In addition to my formal education, I have spent the past thirty-five years exploring many movement practices and approaches to healing the body, including nutrition, functional medicine, Pilates-based exercise, Aikido, Continuum, a variety of dance forms, the Feldenkrais approach, and Jin Shin Do Acupressure. I spent two and one-half years gaining certification as an Aston-Patterning practitioner.

Teaching

I am currently a faculty member of Hawthorn University, a school offering Master of Science degrees in Holistic Nutrition.

I have taught classes in Sonoma County on a variety of topics, including “The End to Dieting: A Comprehensive Approach to Weight Management" and “The Upside of Menopause: A Unique Opportunity to Restore and Maintain Vital Health.”

I write and publish a monthly educational newsletter entitled “Live Healthy – Be Happy: A Practical Guide to Nutrition and Exercise for Maintaining Health and Vitality.” This newsletter is being distributed to physicians’ offices and is available to the public by email through this website. Dr. Amy Shaw, well-known family physician and health advocate, is serving as the medical advisor to this publication.

I have authored a research paper entitled “Neuroendocrine Balance and the Menopause Transition: A Holistic Model for the Support of Women through Perimenopause and Menopause” that will be published in the Journal of Applied Nutrition in the fall of 2009.

I am available to give talks and offer classes to groups on a variety of topics related to healthy nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle. Please contact me if you would like me to give a presentation to your group.

Private Practice

I have maintained a private practice in Santa Rosa since 1999. My services include nutrition consultation, physical therapy, and instruction in healthy exercising and stress management. Nutrition consultation services are also offered via telephone.
